T-Skirts!
These skirts were made by altering t-shirts. Long rectangles were cut out of the fabric and serged together to create a new piece of clothing from old! Recycling at it's finest ;)
This flowy, wrap around skirt was made from Roxy, Volcom, and Sitka Surfboards tees. Lined with a dark blue flower design and serged around the edges the make them swerve. Wrap around style makes this skirt one size fits all!

How to Alter a Stained Shirt
You will need:
~ Your Stained Shirt
~ Paints (preferably acrylic)
~ Textile Medium (to mix with the paint so that it doesn't fade in the wash. It's possible to leave it out, however the paint won't stay as vibrant)
~ Newspaper/cardboard/etc. basically something to put in between the 2 layers of cloth so the paint doesn't seep through.
~ Egg Carton to mix the paints and something to mix them up with.
1. Choose your garment. It could basically be any type of clothing (shirts, sweaters, pants, skirts, etc), however, I find corduroy and fleece a little more difficult to paint on because they're not a flat surface. Bottom line: EXPERIMENT! If you don't wear the item already b/c there's a stain on it, what have you got to loose?
2. Choose your color paints. I like to have about 3 different colors for this "flower" style painting, but the skies the limit! Let your imagination be your guide.
3. Mix in the textile medium (if using). I like the to use about 1/3 medium to the amount of paint that I'm using. Mix well
4. Get in there! Lightly dab the tip of a finger in one of the colors and press over the stain on the cloth. I like to use one finger per color so the colors don't all meld together. Grab another color and lightly dab onto your garment, making petals for your flowers.
5. Design. Spread the flowers out over your shirt, spacing them accordingly. You might want flowers over your heart as well, on pockets, the back of your shoulder, again, this is up to you. It's your expression of who you are.
6. Voila! Your clothes transformed into something you can wear again!

Olympian Gary Beacom Loves his New, Gypsy Leg Warmers!
Olympic Figure Skater Gary Beacom is quite the guy! A true showman, he is a natural at entertaining and being in the spotlight. His long list of accomplishments include (but are certainly not limited to) a Canadian team member in the 1984 Olympic Winter Games, 3rd place in the Nutrasweet World Professional Championships, a soloist and figure skater for numerous productions, as well as a figure skater coach at the Racquet Club of Victoria, which is where The Gypsy Soul's connection comes into play. Gypsy was asked by a friend to make a donation to the Racquet Club's Halloween Party and Silent Auction, benefitting the various programs they have available there. Of course, any opportunity to spread the Gypsy Love is accepted with open arms and hearts, so we donated a pair of leg warmers, made from reused sweater arms. Gary, being an avid bike rider, thought they were just the thing to keep his calves warm during the chilly, Victoria months. I meet up with Gary to snag a few photos of him doing some awesome tricks and poses with the leg warmers. He was definitely not shy about the added attention for his skating practice and gave me quite a show! He also took the opportunity to tell me about an upcoming event "Skate Dance", which is now accepting members (you can read more about this project on his Blog). Here is one of my favourite skating pieces of his ~ very comical! Having a "Jack Nicholson" style approach to his entertaining, Gary Beacom is a showman to the first degree and it is a privilege that he chooses to sport The Gypsy Soul's clothing.
